My name is Katie Sparham-Brown and I work with clients of all ages. I recognise the importance of an individuals hopes, dreams, fears and life story and I use and integrate a number of ways of working so that each client can find their own path to work through what has brought them to counselling.
Feeling safe and non-judged is crucial for a client to able to explore difficult 'stuff'. I provide a confidential, warm and welcoming space and through listening and empathy build the relationship of trust that is needed to be able to explore and challenge difficult feelings and to enable change and growth.
Through a variety of ways of working that may include talking, reflecting, art, sand, symbols, play, mindfulness techniques, CBT skills and resources, we work together to understand and process the feelings and thoughts that are impacting a clients life. Obviously the client is in charge of their own process and can choose if they want to use a particular way or not.
I love working with children and young people and have specialised counselling training for working those aged 4 -18 years as well as individuals with additional and special needs including ASD, ADHD and Down Syndrome.
I offer one-to-one counselling for children, young people and adults as well as support for parents.
I have had specialist training with Cruse to work with bereaved children and young people.
I have specific training for working safely with issues of trauma and abuse.
